Dog-Friendly Manhattan ultra luxury apartments

 Ultra Luxury Manhattan Apartments.

When people think of New York, they usually think of Manhattan, which is an island barely 12 miles long and 2 miles wide. This island is the main tourist area in the city and where most visitors stay. Manhattan consists of many neighborhoods. New York City is very densely populated but is surprisingly dog-friendly. Although you can’t take your dog to a Broadway Show there are a surprising number of things you and your visiting or resident dog can do together.

Visitors and residents of Manhattan often want to shop the large and famous stores. In New York, many of these stores are pet friendly stores including Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany’s, Restoration Hardware and Polo Ralph Lauren. Please check with the individual stores before bringing your dog in, as policies in stores often do change. We have found that if you ask at a lot of New York stores they will welcome your dog. Especially smaller ones but even larger dogs on leash are often welcome. Especially dog-friendly is the Time Warner Shopping Center, an indoor mall on Columbus Circle at 8th Avenue and 59th Street.

Dog-friendly Shopping Center near your apartment in Manhattan.

This shopping center is at the south west corner of Central Park so it is a great place to shop following a walk in Central Park with your dog.  Also, your leashed dog can go with you to the outdoor South Street Seaport near the Brooklyn Bridge. If you want to dine with your dog in New York, you will need to find a patio restaurant with seats on the sidewalk. There are many dog-friendly restaurants, and you can ask any restaurant you see that has sidewalk seating if your dog is welcome.

One thing that dogs like to do is to walk the Brooklyn Bridge for the scenery. There are guided walking tours of lower Manhattan that welcome dogs. The Central Park carriage rides welcome dogs accompanying you. You can take your dog to the grounds of the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site on East 20th Street, the General Grant National Monument and the Federal Hall National Memorial outside. Or for a closer look you can take your small dog on the Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island or any size dog on the Seastreak Ferry to New Jersey. The William Secord Art Gallery at 52 East 76th Street welcomes your leashed dog with you. But Manhattan is above all a walking town, which your dog will probably like. You can view the famous landmarks, the Empire State Building, Grand Central, Madison Square Garden and the awesome New York skyline from the street with your dog.

Off-Leash Dog Parks

New York City has more off-leash dog parks than any other city in the United States. There are off-leash dog parks in all areas of the city. The dog parks are free and no permits are required. Leashed dogs are allowed in Central Park, the huge green rectangle in the center of the map of Manhattan. The Canine Court is located in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx and includes an agility course. If your dog wants to swim in New York, you can go to the Prospect Park Dog Beach in Brooklyn. This is a man made concrete beach. This beach is fenced. As far as Atlantic Ocean beaches are concerned dogs are not allowed on the sand at any NYC beach from May 1 to September 30. During the rest of the year, dogs are allowed on the Sand at some of the New York Beaches, including Rockaway Beach, Coney Island and some other beaches. Leashed dogs are allowed on the boardwalks and promenade at Coney Island, Brighton, Midland, South and Manhattan Beaches year round.

Apartments in Amityville NY: no longer a nightmare but a DREAM!

home in Amityville
Scene from Amityville: The Awakening!

Remember Amytiville? That horror movie that freaked people out in the late 80’s? Now,  before I start writing about the beautiful houses and buildings we can find in this “possessed” location, I´d like to share with you my own experience with Amytiville´s famous house.

Since I was a kid I´ve always been a lover of horror movies, I saw absolutely all of them! Friday 13th part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ….200!! , Freddy Kruger with his horrible nightmares, Norman Bates, Michael Myers and each and every horrifying character were part of my video library. Yes, maybe its kind of creepy but I am a lover of horror movies.

Amytiville wasn´t the exception and I must say it was one of the movies which scared me most. For those who haven´t seen this film it´s about a teenager who, after being possessed by the devil, kills his whole family ( WHAAAAATTT???). Yes! And the worst of all this film was based on real facts…so when I turned 15 (yes, a kid!) instead of organizing a party with great fanfare I decided to travel to New York City…and of course visit Amytiville on Long Island and take pictures of the famous house. So there I went with my parents, we took a cab and told him the reason I wanted to visit Amytiville, I still remember the address!! Can you believe it?? 108 Ocean Avenue (in case you wanna take a look). In those days there was no internet so I don´t know how the hell I got it! But I did.

The driver told us the story of the murders were not quite as they said and that the kid was drugged and not possessed and that was the reason why he killed his family…anyway…it sucks!

I got out of the car and managed to take some pictures but it was not until a furious man came running from the house next door yelling he was going to call the cups cause that was private property….ok, ok take it easy man! Got my camera and left as fast as we could. Now I´m not sure where those pictures are and prefer not to find them, in case a ghost appears in them after all this time!

Ok, so this was my anecdote with Amytiville and thought it was nice to share it with you. I guess you are now thinking you´ll never search for apartments for rent near Amytiville, NY and I must say that leaving the horror movies, ghosts and possessions aside, this is a real beautiful place to live and people should remember it for its superb buildings and houses and not for these horrible facts.

4 Uses for Your 2nd Bedroom When You Live Alone in a 2 Bedroom Apartment

two bedroom luxury apartments nyc

If you are planning to move to a two-bedroom apartment in New York City and you live alone, it could yet be a great idea to turn the 2nd bedroom in something else than a forgotten stuff-storage area! Here some ideas you may love.

My friend Patty used to live with her sister Anna in a beautiful two Room apartment in NYC until Anna decided to move for work to another state. Not knowing what to do in such a big place, Patty thought about moving to a one bedroom studio and asked me for advice.

What I told her definitely made her mind and motivated her to stay where she was taking advantage of the fact of having a second room available. A week later her sis left and finding herself in a kind of “crisis” I spoke to her by the phone and told her:

“Patty, you know I love you, but…you are making a world out of this! Who doesn´t love to live in the center of New York City with a two bedroom apartment which fortunately you can afford!” She listened to me carefully and then I added: “Now I´m going to give you for reasons why I think you should stay where you are and then tell me what you think”:

1. Use the second bedroom as a walking closet area.

Yes! What woman does not love to have hundreds of different clothes and shoes and find no place where to keep them? Using this room will save you lots of space and your new “wardrobe” will look great with everything in sight!

2. Use that second room as your private office.

You are an executive worker, you work 24/7 with your cellphone and PC, you need you own space to keep everything need and tidy. You´ll feel great knowing you can use that space for work!

3. Create your own personal library.

I know you love reading so all those books you keep in the warehouse garage take them to that second bedroom and build a beautiful library where you will be able to read each book and relax as you always wanted.

4. And last but not least, create a beautiful playroom for your niece.

Your brother has a beautiful 2-year-old child and I heard you more than once protest saying you don´t have space to play with your little niece, so come on! Here´s your chance to build a place specially designed for her! Paint the room in pink, buy toys and decorate it as a real princess “castle”. I´m sure after that she´ll be so fascinated she´ll love you even more!! And will want to go and visit you more often….and your brother will definitely be grateful.

After she heard my reasons she automatically answered back and cried: “OH YOU ARE SO RIGHT!! NO WONDER YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND!” 😉

She hasn´t decided yet which of the four tips will choose but at least she is sure of not moving to another place.

I hope this testimony was useful for you and come on! encourage yourself to transform your second bedroom and to make the most of it according to your needs, I´m sure you will not regret it! 🙂
